I am using CS6 Illustrator on a PC Win7 PRO with 16GB memory.
I designed a vector based file in layers that works fine. It is pretty detailed, and includes some gradients. OK.
Now I added a graphic style that is a rotation with perspective. Initially the program took forever to calculate, so I started using the transformation layer by layer.
Still crashed.
I then adjusted the windows paging file, still crashed.
I updated to the latest version. I'm not sure if it was the adjusted paging file size or the update(s), but at least it doesn't crash.
The original file size in the 200-300mb range has grown to 3-4 gigabytes.
Just opening the file takes hours.
It's a very important file, or i would not be spending this effort.
Additionally, some of the gradients contain line artifacts that don't look good. I will be posting that problem in another thread.
I did set the Document Raster Effects setting to 1200, I know that's high, but I though it would be fixing the artifact problem.
Is there something that I am missing? Should I not be generating these gigantic files?
Thoughts?
Thanks
Fritz
