Can't find the illustrator preference folder

This is my first time on a forum--please bear with me. I recently moved to a new role using  brand new mac with OS 10.9.1. I did not set it up our IT dept handled it. I cannot locate the illustrator preference folder to reset my preferences to the default. I have tried following the string of folders that are supplied in the tutorial that I am following in the Adobe Classroom in A Book. Keep in mind that I have been away from the mac world for 6 years. Do not assume that I know anything.
