How can I keep a background pattern consistent throughout different sized dartboards (files) in Illustrator?
Do I adjust the PPI when I click on the background?
I am using the same wood grain pattern among several different size artboards/sizes/files. I want to keep it consistent vs. stretching it. Is there a way to ensure it will be consistent with all files? What I have done is crop it before placing it. Is that the easiest way to do this or can I manipulate it within Illustrator?
System: Windows 10
Just payed for student license and downloaded CC, Photoshop and Illustrator. CC and Photoshop works fine, but I have huge problems with Illustrator.
My first problem is the message I get when opening Illustrator:

Doesn’t help to relaunch. Still got all the errors.
When I try to create a New, I get this message:
Can’t create a new illustration. Problems occurred while saving the print file. ID: -1
I'm not keen to pay for something that doesn't work. Tried to Google and find some solutions, but couldn't find anything helpful. Tried also to find how to contact the support, but founded just questions/answers.
Thankful for any help or information how to contact the support.

I just opened my illustrator. You know, just getting ready to start with my daily creative duties when suddenly I realize that my stroke values were a little too... ridiculous huge.
I already tried to uninstall and reinstall even with the cleaning tool. I tried changing languages and reseting preferences and nothing seems to work. I'm also not able to find a proper solution on the forums. I really need to fix this since it is really messing up with my workflow and i'm already behind schedule.
Hi All. I am having an issue with Illustrator CC for Windows 7 crashing/freezing/not responding when trying to open files. I started having the issue after I recently updated the software. I can open Illustrator fine but it crashes when I try to open a file, it's not a specific file but any file in general. I've tried reinstalling the software, turning off GPU performance and I have also tried changing the default printer (as suggested in other threads on the forum) but to no avail. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you.
I'm trying to use Illustrator CC 2015.3. I used it before, most recently last month with no issues. I have windows 10 and my computer is just about a year old.
The program won't properly load. I was able to start a new document using the workspace menu but now that I disabled start workspace like some forums suggested I can't even open new files. My menus won't load, they just flick on a disappear. Short cuts don't work and the blue spinner just keeps spinning. The Creative Cloud App thing says the program is up-to-date.
I have also installed and used the adobe creative cloud cleaner and it said no errors.
Hi, I've been searching and I can't find anything as to how to save points as a SVG from Illustrator ?
I develop Adobe Illustrator plugin for loading images from database. When using dual monitor the screen starts to flicker. (Flickering occurs inconsistently (i.e) Sometimes while opening the ai file after downloading the image from database for first time, sometimes when editing the file after being loaded and sometimes after few times of repeating the above steps.
I have tried following options after searching in adobe forums:
1. Click on Illustrator and Run as Administrator
2. Go to "Edit > Preferences > General"
3. Uncheck the option "Show start Workspace when no documents are open"
Kindly somebody guide me how to resolve this.
i was drawing a complex illustration and when I finally had to resize to a bigger size y shut down. I opened again and I don't have layers I created before I opened it that last time, how is it possible? I'm just freaking out, there's no "recovery" file, nothing. CC2015
I've created this star in Adobe Illustrator using black and white gradients which I have then applied a 'Screen' transparency to (see image).
The problem I am having is that when I remove the grey background to export as a transparent PNG, the whole image turns black due to the screen filter applied to it (see image below).
How do I convert the image to a transparent file that can be overlaid on JPG's?
My illustration is stopping working after I installed win 10. Is there some setting in the software or operating system to fix this common problem?
Is there a way to determine the current user at runtime?
I have many people using my scripts daily and I'm working on building a logging and error reporting API so that I can build detailed log files and accurately identify the source of errors. As part of this, I want to determine which user is currently running the script so i can log that information inside their log entry.
We're all running Macs here, so i need something that works on OSX. Currently I'm just reading the contents of the /Users/ folder (with folder.getFiles()) to find the user's name, but I'm hoping to find something a little more reliable. I can guarantee that each user has a folder in their /Users/ folder with their name on it. However, the /Users/ folder often contains other files and can contain multiple users (for example, i have a 'will.dowling' folder and an 'admin' folder).
I could eventually weed out all of the known undesirable names (.localized, DS Store, etc) but then i still leave myself open to the possibility that someone creates an unexpected file or directory in there.
tldr;
Is there anything in the adobe illustrator API that allows me to accurately read any unique information about the user so I can attach the username to the log file?

I hope someone can help us. We setup a new PC for our customer and working in Illustrator is very slow. If you select Lines and want to move it, it follow slowly the pointer and when you release the mouse button, illustrator hang for 10-20 seconds.
We use Windows 7 and Illustrator CC newest Version.
PC Build is intel i7 6700 3.4Ghz
16GB Memory
Nvidia GeForce GTX 950
Drivers are the newest one installed.
We also tried with a GeForce GTX 980 DC2OC Strix, little bit better Performance, but still very slow. Will have the Quadro cards better performance than 3D Cards? ATI is no option, because our Illustrrator version don't support ATI Cards with Win7.
We allready tried all the speed up settings recommended in the forum.
Have someone an idea what we can do more? Or can someone recommend a graphics card that will give us enough performance that illustrator works without so much waiting time?

Can someone help me how to write a print file in custom size as an Adobe PDF. This setting is not included in the Adobe PDF printer driver.
Any suggestion on how can duplicate then inset a shape or a stroke; so it perfectly insets to the shape of the path to which it was duplicated from ? I tried the offset filter, followed by the distort > transform filter (scale) but it doesn't retain the scale of the shape it was duplicated from, which is a bummer

The problem is about colour which I get after printing. Pink becomes green. 
In illustrator everything seems OK, maybe I'm doing smth wrong when I'm exporting file to PDF.

I created my own Keyboard Shortcut Preset and have given it a name "preset A", Everything works properly.
However, every time I quit Illustrator or restart the computer, the Keyboard Shortcut is set back to "default".
I work as a graphics designer and need to open and close Illustrator multiple time in a day,
so having to constantly go to edit/Keyboard Shortcut... to change it back to "preset A" is pretty annoying.
Is there a way to make "preset A" stay in use even after restart?

I have an .eps image that has WHITE text on a transparent background. I'm trying to change the text to BLACK text on a transparent background. I've tried using every tool, but nothing works. I can click on the letters, and go to the color fill, but it will not change the color to Black. What can I do to change this text color?
I have been asked to do this with several documents and think I have it right but am having the hardest time. Any suggestions?
